Almost everyone will agree that a trip to the pumpkin patch can be a lot of fun and can be important in bonding as a family. But when it comes to a choice between food on the table or a jack-o-lantern, the decisions are not only difficult for the parent but may be very difficult for a child to understand. Add internal family issues and it may seem impossible! Salem is fortunate to have Escape (Exchange Sponsored Child Abuse Prevention Effort) and their “Forever Families program”. The “Forever Families” program provide in home parent aids who work with  families to develop parenting and life skills, helping them become better parents and citizens. As a project for Youth the Exchange Clubs in Salem provides, (free of charge), to families in the “Forever Families” program a trip to an area pumpkin patch. Transportation is provided by club members to the farm and each child can participate in a number of activities. Activities include hay rides, corn mazes, hay castle climbing as well as the occasional cookie or small gourd! And of course a run to the field to pick out a pumpkin! Remember this is made possible by fundraisers of the Exchange Club and your donations!
