About the Event: The Great Willamette River Raft Race has become a tradition for Willamette Valley families for 40 yrs. Starting in Independence at Riverview Park you will travel approximately 11.5 miles down the Willametter river to Wallace Marine Park in Salem. Kayaks & Canoes travel the distance in about two hours, others may take up to five hrs. So join a great event that will bring the family together for some summer time fun.  Sat Aug 26th, 2017. Pro 5K 9:00am, Fun Run Mains 10:30am & 11:30am, Challenger 12:30pm! A new strain of madness has struck Fordyce Farm! Witnesses of it’s symptoms call it Mud MADNESS! Those afflicted say catch it! Mud Madness has something for everyone! Great obstacles including a 120ft water slide, Lots of Mud, an after party with music, food and beer! The A.C.E. (Accepting the Challenge of Excellence) Award recognizes high school students who have had to overcome great physical, emotional, or social obstacles and are now eligible for high school graduation. This program especially recognizes students who have made a dramatic change in their attitude and performance during their high school years. The Foster Family Picnic, the brain child of Ed Hallett, began in 2005. The event has evolved and change locations several times since its meager beginnings. Today the event has grown in purpose, size and effect, and is currently held at the Oregon State Fairgrounds. However the basic idea remains the same, which is to let the Foster Families know how much the community appreciates what they do!

ESCAPE Pumpkin Patch Outing

October! Halloween! What FUN! Unless your homeless. As a project for Youth, the Exchange Clubs of Salem provides, free of charge, a pumpkin patch outing for the families from the “Forever Families” child abuse prevention program operated by Escape (Exchange Sponsored Child Abuse Prevention Effort). The morning begins as club members transport the families to the pumpkin patch. At the pumpkin patch the kids have the opportunity to go on hay rides, wind through corn mazes, climb on a hay fort and of course run among the pumpkins and pick out their favorite!
